Dog Date Afternoon is a curated playdate community for dogs and their humans in New York City. By creating a profile and using the app, you agree to these community standards and terms. We maintain this space by hand — every member is approved, and every report is reviewed by a real person.
This app exists because dog people are good people — and New York dogs deserve better social lives. We're building a neighborhood network grounded in trust, respect, and good-natured play. Everything here flows from that.
Dog Date Afternoon is a welcoming space. We do not tolerate:
Violations may result in immediate removal from the community without notice. We reserve the right to remove any member whose behavior conflicts with the spirit of this space.
You are responsible for everything you post, send, or upload within Dog Date Afternoon — including photos, messages, and profile information. By submitting content, you confirm that it is accurate, that you have the right to share it, and that it complies with these standards.
We do not pre-screen messages between members, but we do review reported content and act on it promptly. If you encounter anything that violates these standards, please use the report function in the app or contact us directly.
Profile photos should be real, recent photos of your dog (and optionally yourself). Please do not upload photos of other people's dogs, stock images, or any images that are misleading, inappropriate, or not your own. We may remove profiles with photos that don't reflect honest representation of your pup.
All dogs on Dog Date Afternoon must be up to date on core vaccinations, including rabies. By checking the vaccination box during signup, you confirm your dog meets this requirement. We trust our members to be honest — and other dogs' safety depends on it.
Dog Date Afternoon is an approved-member community. We review all applications and may decline or remove membership at our discretion, including for inactivity, misrepresentation, or behavior that conflicts with our community standards. Membership is non-transferable and limited to the dog and human who applied.
Dog Date Afternoon is free to use. We may introduce optional features in the future, and will communicate any changes clearly in advance.
You can delete your account at any time from your profile screen within the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, messages, and all associated data. This action cannot be undone.
You may also request deletion by emailing hello@dogdateafternoon.app. We will process your request within 30 days.
Dog Date Afternoon is provided "as is." We make no guarantees about the behavior of other members, the outcome of playdates, or the continuous availability of the app. Use good judgment when meeting other dogs and humans — even in a curated community, you know your dog best.
We are not responsible for any injury, loss, or damage that may occur during playdates arranged through the app. Always meet in a safe public location and ensure your dog is ready for the energy level of their new playmate.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dog Date Afternoon and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or participation in the community.
We may update these terms as the community grows. Changes will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York County.
By using Dog Date Afternoon, you agree to treat every member — human and canine — with the same warmth and respect you'd want for your own dog. That's really all we're asking.
